

Founded in 2001, Sichuan University of Culture and Arts has established itself as a leading institution in the realm of cultural and artistic education. Officially recognized by the Ministry of Education as an independent college offering undergraduate programs and enrolling students nationwide in 2006, the university further solidified its status in 2014 when it was restructured into an independently established private undergraduate university under the formal name of Sichuan University of Culture and Arts.
In 2016, the university was designated as a pilot institution for the comprehensive transformation and development of undergraduate education in Sichuan Province. This recognition was complemented by its election as the inaugural director unit of the Sichuan Alliance of Applied Undergraduate Institutions, signifying a pivotal moment in its dedication to advancing applied education and fostering collaborative development within the region.
Located in Mianyang, the second-largest city in Sichuan Province and a sub-center of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic zone—also known as China's City of Science and Technology—the university currently operates two campuses, one in Mianyang and the other in Zitong.
Guided by the spirit of "Aim high, and burn my future bright," the university is committed to the philosophy of "Inspiring students' wisdom and cultivating talents to meet the demands of the times." It has clarified its comprehensive and applied-oriented positioning, adhering to the principles of "Establishing the university on quality, strengthening it with talent, and making it renowned through distinctive features."
Embracing the motto "Being fundamental, pragmatic, and innovative," the university steadfastly implements a campus credit system. It promotes a new-era applied talent cultivation model that integrates "large classrooms, large stages, the combination of art and technology, the integration of classrooms and studios, and the connection of practice with industrial projects." By creating an open teaching space, the university aims to nurture applied cultural and artistic talents who are "morally upright, broadly based, highly qualified, strong in ability, and innovative," thus meeting the needs of society.
The university offers a diverse range of 46 undergraduate programs (including 1 Sino-foreign cooperative program) and 36 associate programs, spanning eight major academic disciplines: Arts, Literature, Economics, Management, Education, Engineering, History, and Law. Notably, three of its undergraduate programs have been recognized as provincial first-class undergraduate program construction sites.
The university comprises 17 secondary colleges, including the College of Marxism, College of Music, College of Dance, College of Digital Music Industry, College of Digital Film and Television, College of Digital Media, College of Fine Arts, College of Digital and Intelligent Design, College of Economic Management, College of Culture and Tourism, College of Cultural Relics and Museum, College of Vocational Education, College of Big Data, College of Physical Education, College of International Communication and Cooperation, College of NetEase Artificial Intelligence Industry, and College of Cultural Science and Technology Industry.
With over 20,000 full-time students, the university actively engages in collaborations with government bodies, enterprises, and other academic institutions. It has constructed a multi-tiered, multi-dimensional, and strategically focused platform to support students' career development and entrepreneurial endeavors. The establishment of the College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park has created an optimal environment for students to pursue employment opportunities and launch their own businesses.
The university boasts a highly qualified, titled, and cultivated team of educational experts and teachers, with 16 master teachers' studios established. By adopting a strategy of "recruitment and cultivation in tandem," it has formed and gathered a number of academic and teaching teams with considerable recognition both domestically and internationally. The university has also recruited dual-qualified talents from industries, enterprises, and society, building a faculty that is highly competent, dynamic, modern, and well-suited to the developmental needs of the institution.
In the past three years, the university's faculty members have participated in over 160 external scientific research projects, engaged in more than 80 national social science fund projects, and presided over projects at the municipal and departmental levels. They have publicly published over 1,000 academic papers and obtained more than 20 patents.
Currently, the university has established multi-channel cooperative programs with more than 50 universities in 15 countries overseas. It collaborates with the Free Academy of Fine Arts in Rimini, Italy, to offer an undergraduate program in Visual Communication Design (Sino-foreign cooperative education). The university also engages in credit recognition joint training programs, international winter and summer camps, and overseas internships for students with multiple overseas institutions.
The university has recruited international talents from countries such as the United States, Italy, Russia, Belarus, South Korea, and India. Over 30 foreign teachers are currently engaged in long-term teaching at the university, while more than 100 overseas experts and scholars have participated in short-term exchanges. Additionally, the university enrolls over 300 international students from more than 40 countries along the "Belt and Road," including Russia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, India, Mongolia, Ethiopia, Liberia, Morocco, Cameroon, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, and Ivory Coast.
The university actively serves local industries and promotes economic and social development, having cultivated over 50,000 compound and innovative talents to meet social demands. Over the long term, the university has consistently organized teachers and students to actively participate in various levels of competitions and significant cultural and artistic exhibitions. From 2022 to 2024, the university's teachers and students have successively won more than 3,800 awards at the provincial and ministerial levels and above.
The university has received numerous honorary titles, including "Top Ten Art Institutions in China," "Top Ten Well-known Private Brands in China," "Pilot School for Emergency Education in the Second Batch of National Schools," "Special Contribution Unit" in Sichuan Province's tourism industry, "Civilized Unit in Sichuan Province," and "Member Unit of Sichuan Provincial Education Media Convergence Alliance."
